The Bullets faced off against Ursinus in nearly every sport on April 10. Softball, baseball, tennis, and lacrosse all competed against the Bears last Saturday.

Double Header Splits on the Diamond

Starting with softball the Bullets picked up a split in the doubleheader on the road. In the first game Gettysburg picked up a dominant 6-0 win behind the pitching of Megan Hughes ’24 who threw a complete game shutout. The Bullets put up five runs in the second inning behind the hitting of Jess Campana ‘23, Olivia Mosser ‘23, and first year Abby Zucatti who all tallied two hits.

In Game 2 the Bullets fell 2-0 in a tight game. Jasmin Herrera ‘23 threw six solid innings allowing two runs (one earned). While the Bullets got shut out, Allie Cluster ‘23 and first-year Giovanna Komst both had two hits in the game.

Gettysburg baseball also picked up a split on their road trip to Ursinus. In Game 1 the Bullets fell down four runs early but were able to rally back behind the offense of Matt Szczeny ‘21, Shane Manieri ‘22, and first-year Andrew Donlan. Sammy Sestito ‘22 and Kenny Spadaccini ‘23 both pitched well to keep the Bullets’ lead after the comeback.

In the second game the Bullets came out with a bang as Collin Short ‘21 hit his first career HR, but Muhlenburg answered with three HR of their own during the game. Mark Seibert ‘22 and first year-Andrew Donlan both picked up two hits in the loss.

Tennis Drops Both Matches to the Bears

The Bullets women’s tennis team fell 8-1 to Ursinus over the weekend. Alex Rieg ‘23, Alexis Rinker ‘22, and first-year Tierney Cantwell all competed very well but came up just short in their matches. First0year Gillian Rozenfeld picked up her first victory in the top flight over the weekend, winning in three sets.

The men’s team also fell to Ursinus by a score of 8-1. First-year Alex Kagan evened his singles record with a victory over the weekend. Kagan and fellow first-year Michael Zayneh came up just short in a doubles victory. Matt Rau ‘23 came up just short in a singles match.

Women’s Lax Continues Dominance, Men Squeak by in OT

No. 5 ranked Gettysburg women’s lacrosse team enjoyed a dominant 20-5 win over Ursinus on senior day where the seven Bullets seniors were honored. The No. 10 Bullets men’s lacrosse team won a thriller in OT by the score of 10-9. The game was back and forth with the Bullets taking the lead early and Ursinus responding to make the game close. It came down to OT to settle the game and Jack Fletcher ‘21 came up clutch with the game winning goal. Kyle Howard ’23 (2 Goals, 2 Assists, 2 Ground Ball), Kieran Ward ’22 (Goal, Assist) were among the other top performers for the Bullets in a thrilling win at Shirk field.
