The Bullets Women’s Lacrosse team stayed perfect this weekend as they took down No. 21 ranked Denison 13-6 on Saturday. The Bullets improved to 3-0 and began a five-game stretch of facing nationally-ranked opponents.

The Bullets got off to a hot start by scoring the first five goals of the game. Bri Stokes ‘21 scored the first two and assisted the second two by dishing to Courtney Patterson ‘20 and Maria Nemeth ‘20.

Fellow senior Liza Barr ‘20 scored the fifth with 20 minutes left in the first half. Denison then scored three of the next four goals, halving the deficit to 6-3. They wouldn’t score for the rest of the half however, and the Bullets went into halftime with an 8-3 lead as Kerry McKeever ‘21 scored two and Casey Cole ’20 made 5 saves in the last 17 minutes to keep Denison out.

Patterson opened the second half with two goals to add to her personal tally and to put the Bullets up 10-3. Denison then grabbed one goal which was followed up by two advantage goals that put the Bullets up 12-4 with about 13 minutes left.

Denison cut the lead to 12-6 before Barr scored her second and the team’s final goal with 7 minutes left to cap off a 13-6 win for the Bullets.

“Saturday’s game was really fun as I thought our team had really good transitions,” said Nora Janzer ‘22. “It was cool to see the past few weeks of practice come together!”

The Bullets outshot Denison 37-20, and held them to just 7 shots in the second half. Barr ended the game two points shy of the No. 10 spot on the all-time scoring list. Janzer’s 4 draw controls topped her total of 3 from last season.

The Bullets will continue their slate of games against top-ranked opponents when they visit No. 8 Washington and Lee on Sunday March 8th, at 1 p.m. No. 4 Salisbury University, No. 2 Tufts University, and No. 7 York College will follow.
