The Gettysburg women’s soccer team recently qualified for the playoffs with yet another successful season. There were many important plays and great players that made it a winning season for the Bullets, but there was one steady presence in net that rounded out the team and made the run possible.

Senior goalkeeper and team captain Eliza Gray added another solid season to her outstanding career here at Gettysburg. Thus far she has a save percentage of .880 and a goals allowed average of .33. In addition, she has recorded eleven shutouts, a school record for a single season.

Gray’s stellar career as goalkeeper has garnered her many accolades. She holds school records in categories such as wins, shutouts, and goalie games. Her play has been good enough to put her atop the career rankings in save percentage and goals allowed average so far as well.

She is thankful to many for her success. “All of my recognition needs also to be accredited to my teammates for the past four years,” Gray said. “My teammates inspire me every day to be the best I can for them and without them, I would be nowhere.”

Gray also credited head coach Matt Garrett, her assistant coaches, her trainer, and her parents for helping her along the way.

As her senior season is approaching its close, she still has one final goal in mind. “It would be a dream come true to win the conference title in my last year with Mo, Lauren, and Melissa [the three other Bullet seniors] by my side,” Gray said.

For Gray’s unfailing talent in the net and tireless team spirit, she is this week’s “Bullet of the Week.”
