It has been a great week for the Gettysburg women’s soccer team. The Bullets not only clinched a place into the Centennial Conference tournament, but they also broke the all-time school record for most shutouts in a season against longtime rival Franklin & Marshall College.

On Saturday, junior attacker Georgia Ferguson and sophomore goalie Eliza Gray led the team to a two to nothing shutout on Muhlenberg’s home turf. With 12:48 on the clock in the first half, senior Tara Crowley fed a pass to Ferguson, who converted it for the first goal of the game. Just 17 minutes later, Ferguson was back at it again with a straight shot from the middle of the box. This sealed the deal for the Bullets, who came out on top with their fourth straight win.

Eliza Gray took care of business in the net with five saves on the day. The dominant performance vaulted the squad a spot into the Centennial Conference Tournament.

Despite cold temperatures that reached into the high 30s, Gettysburg prevailed once again and walked off Clark field Tuesday with a one to nothing shutout against Franklin & Marshall. This marked Gettysburg’s fifth consecutive win, and school record breaking twelfth shutout of the season.

With just 13:05 left in the match, Georgia Ferguson once again worked her magic and scored the Bullet’s one and only goal. Junior Mary Kamovitch delivered the ball to the right side of the box, where Ferguson booted it in.

The Bullets defense shut down the Diplomats, whose only two shots were easy pickings for Eliza Gray, who just won her second straight Centennial Defensive Player of the Week.

Georgia Ferguson has also garnered plenty of attention and has been named the Gettysburg Featured Athlete of the Week. She is currently one of the hottest players in all of Division-3 Soccer as she has scored five of her team-high seven goals in the last four games.

“We work a lot on our specific roles as an individual, and then bring them all together in a game,” Ferguson said. “We have a rare relationship. On the field we push each other to do better, and push each other to do our best. It goes to show in a game how close we are, because we all understand each other’s movements. My role is to score, and my goals would not happen without my team-mates.”

Tuesday night was particularly special for the seven seniors of the team, who were honored in the annual Senior Night. “We’re playing for our seniors tonight,” Ferguson said. “We’re going to do everything we can to make it to nationals and do big things, which I know we can.”

The Bullets are ranked number one in the conference by a few mere points over the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. Gettysburg will face them on Saturday in a fight for the number one seed and the rights to host the Centennial Conference Championship.

The match will feature two titans of Division-Three, both of which have only lost a single game. The game is being hosted by the Bullets at Clark Field at 7 p.m.
