The Gettysburg College women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College in its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday.
Gettysburg turned in its fourth consecutive victory, but it wasn’t a hot start for the Bullets on a cold spring day. Bryn Mawr kept things tight in doubles play until the hosts managed to pull away. Sophomore Isabelle Rodriguez and Senior Bev Keyes got by Vivien Chen and Jenny Vogel 8-6 at the top flight, while Seniors Meghan Fornshell and Laura Habecker edged Melina Koukoutchos and Catherine Austin 9-7 at No. 2.
Senior Meg Kelly and Junior Maggie McLaughlin rounded out a doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at the third flight.
Gettysburg cruised to straight-set wins at each singles competition. Sophomore Caroline Haymans beat Vivien Chen 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1. Rodriguez slapped a pair of bagels on the board against Vogel at the second flight, while Habecker improved to a team-best 5-1 this season with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kendall Baller at No. 4.
Kelly and Senior Charrisha Watkins posted 6-1, 6-1 scores at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, while Keyes rounded out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth flight
