Student Senate 10/21: Voting Begins for the Ralph Cavaliere Award

Officer Reports
President Michael Woods ’25 welcomed the Senate back from break and announced that it would be voting on the Dr. Ralph Cavaliere Endowed Teaching Award which is awarded annually to a full-time faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching.
Treasurer Jack Thompson ’27 reported that Senate has $69,965.46 in cash on hand.
Secretary Olivia Taylor ’25 reminded the Senate that the first Outreach Committee Meeting will be this Friday at 2 p.m.
Faculty advisor Jon Allen announced that there are open spots for clubs seeking to table at the tailgate before the game on Saturday.
Guest Speaker
Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities Elizabeth Farner spoke to the Senate about community standards and updates to campus policy. She also spoke about resources for students such as the Center for Student Success, Residential Education, Campus Security and Counseling and Wellness Services.
Committee Reports
The Academic and Career Affairs Committee meets on Fridays at 10 a.m. in CUB 230.
The Budget and Management Committee meets on Fridays at 2 p.m. in CUB 212. They discussed details about plans for standing desks in the library.
The Board of Committee Chairs meets every other Sunday at 1 p.m.
The College Life Advisory Committee meets on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. in CUB 230.
The Inclusion Committee meets on Thursdays at 3 p.m. in CUB 212.
The Opinions Committee meets on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in CUB 230.
The Rules and Administration Committee meets on Fridays at 1 p.m. on the main level of the library.
The Wellness and Safety Committee meets on Thursdays at 6 p.m. in CUB 208. They discussed potentially setting up a rage room for Election Day or finals.
Club Reports and Announcements
Hillel will be hosting Q-Shabbat in the GRSC on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Owl and Nightingale Players announced that their production of Animal Farm will be begin showing in Kline Theatre this Thursday.
PDT is hosting their annual haunted house on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Econ Honor Society is hosting trivia night Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Attic.
Cinematics is hosting a Halloween movie trivia night 9 to 11 p.m. in the CUB Junction this Friday.
The Antica 5K is two weeks away and tickets are now sale now.
Student Concerns
President Woods addressed the following student concerns: the crosswalk light has been repaired, the purpose of the Servo app is to provide nutritional information, the carpet smell in Breidenbaugh is no longer an issue and Bullet Hole is working to remedy the limited availability of some items.
A new concern raised was the lack of sharps container availability. Some potential locations discussed were CUB and Servo.
Budget Requests
BurgBurst’s request for $10,800 (11.8% of annual budget) was approved.
The South Asian Network for GLobal Awareness and Multiculturalism’s request for $4, 210 (4.6%) was also approved.
New Business
The Senate was once again reminded to vote on the the Dr. Ralph Cavaliere Endowed Teaching Award by Woods.
