On Saturday, Sept. 21, the CUB Junction transformed into a sea of colors, smiles and celebration as students gathered for the annual Mid-Autumn Festival hosted by the Vietnamese Student Association and Asian Student Alliance. The event offered calligraphy and lantern painting stations, allowing students to take home small lanterns as mementos.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a well-loved tradition celebrated across Asian countries, in which families come together to reflect and enjoy time with loved ones. VSA and ASA set up tables displaying cultural activities and refreshments, including mooncakes, rice crackers, sweet and sour candies and milk tea. The evening also featured a K-pop performance and open-mic karaoke.

VSA President Hillary Le ’26 expressed gratitude for her team’s hard work, saying, “Our VSA executive board consists of only three members, who are behind every step of planning. Despite the challenges, they continuously cheered each other up within 1.5 months of preparation… It’s been a lot of work mentally and physically.”

One student reflected on the event’s success, stating, “Mid-Autumn has always been our traditional event, and I am glad this year’s went awesome. I genuinely appreciated everyone coming despite the thunderstorm.”

Many students from across campus attended, with the milk tea station drawing the most attention. At the event’s conclusion, Le emphasized the importance of cultural events like Mid-Autumn on campus, saying, “VSA and other cultural clubs should promote the beauty of our cultures and bring meaningful celebrations like this to campus, with the college providing adequate support.”
