Gettysburg Men’s Golf Takes on Golfweek October Classic

The Gettysburg Men’s Golf program traveled down to Sandestin, Florida to take part in the Golfweek October Classic from Oct. 15 – Oct. 17. The Bullets finished the event in 24th place out of 25 teams, and competed against some of the top Division III programs in the country.

On Saturday, in round one, Gettysburg finished in 17th place with an overall score of 298. Patrick Kilcoyne ’26 led the round for the Bullets, as he posted a score of 73, and his teammates were not far behind him, with scores of 74, 75, 76, and 81. 

Emory led at the end of the first round with a score of 276. Their leading scorer for the round with 68 was Jackson Klutznick. His teammates followed closely behind with two who scored 69, and the others 70 and 74.

Gettysburg finished the second round tied for 22nd place, with an overall score of 309. Daniel Suter ’25 led the Bullets this round with a score of 72. The rest of the squad scored 78, 79, 80, and 84.

Methodist University won the second round with a score of 287, driven by Cooper Hrabak who scored a 66. His teammates supported his efforts with scores of 71, 74, 76, and 81.

Gettysburg finished the third and final day in 24th place and a score of 306. Christian Deussing ’26 led this round for the Bullets, as he posted a score of 74. Suter followed closely behind him with a score of 76 and the rest of the scores for this round were 77, 79, and 81.

Methodist solidified their win on the last day of the classic with an impressive score of 277. Cameron Cappuzzo led the round for them with 66, and Hrabak followed him with a score of 69. Their teammates finished the round with 70, and two scores of 72.

Overall, Methodist won the Classic with an impressive score of 843, a 17-shot difference over the runner-up Illinois Wesleyan. Cappuzzo finished as the individual leader of the tournament with a personal score of 203 and Hrabak had an individual finish of 3rd place with a score of 206.

The Bullets finished 24th with a total score of 913. Suter led the Bullets and placed 62nd with a personal score of 224, driven by three rounds with a 76 or better finish.

Following him, Cam Deiuliis ‘24 finished tied in 98th place with a score of 230. Kilcoyne placed 106th overall with a total score of 232, Sean Engler ‘26 finished 111th with a score of 234, and Deussing finished 118th overall with a score of 239, according to the Gettysburg Athletic Communications Department.

This was the final action of the fall season for the Bullets, but they resume their schedule at the McDaniel Spring Invitational on Mar. 30-31.
