Senior Softball team Pitcher Morgan Clauser struck out a career-high 13 batters on March 16 to get the win against Ramapo College over the team’s Spring Break trip to Florida. Clauser surpassed her previous game-high in strikeouts by three and posted her third shutout of the season.

After Clauser’s stellar performance, she was named Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. She fell only one strikeout short of the program’s record, and the most since Aileen Reilly ’18 in a 2017 game against Franklin & Marshall.

Clauser started the game with a walk in the first inning but bounced back and fanned the next six batters. She only allowed two hits and three walks.

As one of two pitchers on the team, Clauser knows the importance of staying healthy and keeping in shape. However, she does have freshman Skylar Spinner to help eat up innings. In a pre-season interview with Corey Jewart, Clauser mentioned the importance the freshmen have on the team.

“Skyler is coming in as a pitcher which is a huge role, because you can’t just have one pitcher. All of the rest of the first-years are all working very hard and learning our program, the coach, the team and are great additions to our programs already.”

As a senior, Clauser’s favorite memory from last year was hosting regionals.

“It was just a fun experience, and obviously none of us had experienced it before, and we had nothing to lose, and we were playing some of the best players in the country.”
