This past weekend, the women’s tennis team had an impressive performance, sweeping Bryn Mawr 9-0. Senior Erica Paul contributed to the win by not only winning her doubles match with senior Erin Sweeney, but her singles match as well.

Paul was sidelined her junior season with an injury, but has come back for her final season with strong showings.

Paul has had individual victories at number three singles against Ursinus, Bryn Mawr, and Stockton University. Also, she and Sweeney have been strong at third doubles going 2-2 this Spring season with wins against Ursinus and Bryn Mawr.

The senior from Longmeadow, Massachusetts decided to start her tennis career not only because it gave her an opportunity to be involved in the community, but because of the friendships the sport has provided her.

“It was cool to be able to play a sport in college,” said Paul. “I have continued to play because I have made meaningful friendships through the sport and am capable of enjoying being outside and participating in a sport that I love to watch and to play.”

One of Paul’s favorite memories of the season has been the trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina during Spring break.

“Being a few minutes away from the beach, bonding with the girls, and playing in some tough matches allowed us to grow as a team and as individual players of tennis.”

After graduating in May, Paul will be starting her career in the Grenoble region of France, to teach middle and high schoolers English.

Erica will continue her senior season as a Bullet on Saturday against Muhlenberg on Saturday.
