The Gettysburg College Women’s Basketball team (14-4, 10-3 CC) steamrolled their way past Swarthmore with a 72-42 victory on Saturday, January 28.  Among the leading scorers was junior forward Emily Gibbons, who recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Gibbons is one double-double away from tying the Gettysburg program record.

Gibbons has been one of the main contributors on the red hot Bullet’s team that is one game behind Haverford for first place in the Centennial Conference.  Gibbons averages a double-double with 17.9 points-per-game and 13.8 rebounds per game, enough to lead the league in both categories.  Gibbons also leads the league in field-goal percentage.

On a team that features no seniors, Gibbons play and leadership paves the way for the Bullets, who are outscoring their opponents by 12.3 points per game and out-rebounding opponents by 8.2 rebounds per game.

The 2nd place Bullets look to be in a good position for a playoff run this year with the league’s best winning percentage at 77 percent. Her impressive contributions to the women’s basketball team make Emily Gibbons The Gettysburgian player of the week.
