As the Gettysburg College women’s cross country team nears its biggest meet of the season, the Centennial Conference Championships, Saturday, The Gettysburgian looks back at the runners who have made this season so competitive. Sophomore Colleen Campbell has proven to be a trusted top finisher.

“There is something really special about the conference meet,” said Campbell. “We have been working toward this weekend for a long time, and in this race, there will be a lot of exciting performances.”

Campbell has been a top seven finisher since the team’s Little Three Meet versus Dickinson College and Franklin & Marshall College in August.

With the top six sitting out of Friday’s meet at the Lebanon Valley College Last Chance Run Fast Invitational, Campbell stepped up to lead the Bullets with a seventh-place overall finish in 24:51. Cambell thrived amidst the on-and-off downpours that complimented the evening.

Campbell used her teammates as motivation to push forward and post one of her best times of the season.

“This year, the girls have really focused on working together during races, said Campbell. “We motivate each other during workouts and we encourage each other during competition, and I think that will really give us an edge during the championship portion of the season.”

Campbell has demonstrated strength throughout the season that adds depth to the team, and these factors are why she is the Bullet of the Week.
