The Gettysburg Men’s basketball team finished up conference play Monday night and is looking for a successful run in the Centennial Conference playoffs beginning this week. This year the Bullets are lead by a strong starting lineup, and sophomore point guard Matt England is at the head of their offense.

When commenting on this season so far, England said, “This season has certainly been a change for me. Last year I played forward, and now this year I am playing point guard. I think I’ve responded well in this new role and am hopeful I can help the team going forward in the season.”

England has definitely responded well to this change in position. He averages 10.3 points per game, and shoots 87% from the free throw line.

When asked about the season as a whole, England said, “We’ve obviously have not been doing as well as we were in the beginning of the year. But we are confident that we can turn the season back in the right direction.”

The Bullets have done just that with a 58-46 win over McDaniel last Saturday and a win over Ursinus 91-69 Monday night.

England and rest of the Bullets face off Thursday night against McDaniel in the opening round of the conference playoffs.

England said, “We’ve seen in the Centennial many times this year that anyone can beat anyone. So if we play the way we know we are capable of playing, anything can happen in the playoffs.

The team is very excited to get their postseason play underway and hopes for a successful outcome in the tournament.

Come out and support the Bullets and Bullet Shot Athlete of the Week Matt England in the Centennial Conference playoffs this week!
