The Gettysburg field hockey team wrapped up its season on Oct. 31 with a 5-4 win over Johns Hopkins. The Bullets finished with a 4-6 record in Centennial Conference play and 8-9 record overall. Although the Bullets did not make the Centennial Conference tournament this season, sophomore goalie Haley Mowery helped lead the Bullets to many victories with her exceptional season as starting goaltender for the team.

This past week Mowery was named Defender of the Week by the conference for her outstanding play this season. This year Mowery posted over 130 saves which is more saves than any Gettysburg goalie has made in the past 19 seasons.

Reflecting on the season Mowery said, “Coming into the season we had some very high expectations for each other and the ultimate goal of making it into the conference tournament this year. Unfortunately, that did not happen but we ended out the season strong and overall improved a great deal when it comes to statistics compared to last season.”

With the field hockey program on route to a winning record, the Bullets are very hopeful for the success of next season. Mowery’s goals for next season are similar to the ones of this year; she hopes to continue “fine-tuning some things and to carry the same winning momentum into next fall.”
